We’re creating something unique here. An ever-growing resource of Lake District walks, things to do, where to eat, drink and stay and the best places in our gorgeous towns and villages to visit.
All Things Lake District was started from a clear need: nothing else really exists like this out there. We’ve searched endless times for specific walking routes (whether more popular or quieter trails) and come up against tired, outdated information which gets you no closer to actually getting outside. So you just keep scrolling and scrolling and never quite find what you need.
Likewise, a lot of other guides don’t include enough detail, aren’t written for real people and aren’t written with experience of this landscape.
We live in the Lake District and spend as much of our time as possible hiking, exploring, swimming and making the most of the incredible outdoors that surrounds us. We have a significant amount of experience in this landscape and share unique, but important insights that are often missed in other resources. Our guides prioritise accuracy and clarity.
Every single recommendation, route we publish a guide to and suggestion we make is based on having done it ourselves, multiple times. All Things Lake District is written by humans, and will grow steadily.

I’m Fay Doyle, and I’m lucky to call the Lake District home. For around the last decade, I’ve worked across outdoors focused journalism, photography, publishing, travel and tourism.
I’m also co-founder of This Expansive Adventure which is an independent online publication focused on travel, adventure, hiking and gear guides.
