All Things Lake District

Welcome to All Things Lake District

We’re creating something unique here. An ever-growing resource of Lake District walks, things to do, where to eat, drink and stay and the best places in our gorgeous towns and villages to visit.

We started All Things Lake District from a clear need: nothing else really exists like this out there. We’ve searched endless times for specific walking routes (whether more popular or quieter trails) and come up against tired, outdated information which gets you no closer to actually getting outside. So you just keep scrolling and scrolling and never quite find what you need.

Likewise, a lot of other guides don’t include enough detail, aren’t written for real people and aren’t written with experience of this landscape.

We live in the Lake District and spend as much of our time as possible hiking, exploring, swimming and making the most of the incredible outdoors that surrounds us. We have a significant amount of experience in this landscape and share unique, but important insights that are often missed in other resources. Our guides prioritise accuracy and clarity.

Every single recommendation, route we put together and suggestion we make is based on having done it ourselves. All Things Lake District will naturally continue to grow as we explore more and more.

We’re passionate about helping you to explore the Lake District with simple, easy to navigate information and make your time in this incredible UK National Park memorable for the right reasons! No nonsense.

A little about us:

We’re Fay and Matt Doyle and are lucky enough to call the Lake District home. We’ve worked within travel, tourism and the outdoors for about the last decade.

We’re the co-founders of This Expansive Adventure too, which is an independent online publication focused on travel, adventure, hiking and gear guides. As we spend more time walking and revisiting routes here, we realised the Lakes deserved it’s own dedicated space.

Disclaimer: While we do our very best to make you aware of any safety concerns within the places we recommend, we are not responsible for any situations that may occur as a result of your time outdoors. The Lake District is a wild and rugged area where weather can play a serious part in the suitability of a trail at any given moment. Roads can close without warning, and while we do our best to keep our guides up to date, it isn’t possible to reflect every single event that could happen.
